Melissa Perlman is the Assistant Girls & Boys Cross Country/Track & Field Coach at Spanish River Community High School in Boca Raton, Florida. She has been coaching there since 2011. When not coaching, Melissa is the Founder & President of BlueIvy Communications, a PR & Communications Agency based in South Florida. Melissa is one of the top high school runners to come out of the State of Florida; she’s a two-time individual state champion in the 1600m and 3200m as well as a two-time team state champion in Cross Country. After graduating from Spanish River High School in 2000, she ran Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track for Brown University for two years before graduating with a B.A. degree in Expository Writing. Melissa still competes in local South Florida 5K and Half-Marathon races. She also travels and competes for the Maccabi USA Team throughout Israel and around the world; most recently, Melissa won the silver medal in Berlin, Germany at the 2015 European Maccabi Games.
Doug Horn is the Head Girls & Boys Cross Country/Track & Field Coach at Spanish River Community High School in Boca Raton, Florida. Prior to joining the Spanish River coaching staff in 2014, Doug coached a number of competitive runners throughout South Florida. When not coaching, Doug is the Co-Managing Director of Palmer Kent Associates, an executive search and marketing firm specializing in the legal profession. Doug was a top middle distance runner in high school having run a 1:55.5 800m and finishing 5th in the 880 yard run at the State Meet his senior year. He ran for the University of Florida before graduating with a B.S. degree in Microbiology & Cell Science. Doug then matriculated to law school and engaged in the practice of law for seven years before founding Palmer Kent Associates. Doug still competes in local South Florida races and has completed 12 marathons - qualifying and competing in the Boston Marathon three times.
